Dark-banded Rockfish
About
A spindle-shaped fish with a flat body. It has large eyes, and below its eyes are two sharp spikes. Its mouth is large and shaped like a pointed cone, with small, tightly-packed teeth. It comes in various colors depending on its environment and the depth it lives at. In shallower waters it takes on a gray-brown color, while in deeper waters it appears a grayish-red shade. Large rockfish that live under the cover of rocky areas are black, giving them their name.
