Dragons are more powerful beings than humans by nature, but led by the Sherekhan, the tribes of Drieghan were able to defeat the Dragon by combining their strength and wisdom. However, the power Markthanan possessed was incomparable to that of other Dragons. The source of his power, was the Pure Black Crystal, referred to as the 'seed of shadow' in Drieghan. Pure Black Crystals are often found in the Iron Mines of Drieghan, and Markthanan was reborn after consuming a gigantic Black Crystal.
