Those That Do Not Pray

Not everyone prays when the bell rings in the city. One girl said she hates the bell because, along with prayer, it announces when the High Priest begins hosting extravagant banquets with invited nobles. Most residents of Calpheon are followers of Elion, but unbelievers do exist. These include thieves living in the shadows, artists who don't believe in eternal blessings, and a small group of merchants who have a conflict of interest with the teachings of the church... and their justification for disbelief was just as diverse.
